Four Advance to U.S. Women’s Open at Pine Needles
On a chilly day at Fox Run Golf Club Wednesday, four ladies advanced to the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open Championship at Pine Needles Resort.
Amanda Doherty (Atlanta, GA) came away with medalist honors with rounds of 70-67 (-7) and Isi Gabsa (Germany) was one shot back after rounds of 68-70 (-6) for the 2 of the 4 spots.
Sofia Garcia (Paraguay) and Lauren Miller (Niceville, FL), an amateur who plays at Mississippi State, each played their 36-holes in 2-under par 142 to earn spots into the Open.
A tie at 1-under went to a playoff to determine the alternate positions. Lilia Vu (Fountain Valley, CA) and would birdie the 4th playoff hole to earn 1st Alternate with Ssu Chia Cheng (Chinese Taipei) getting the 2nd Alternate spot.
The 2022 U.S. Women’s Open will be played June 2-5 at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC.
