Buddy Allen Leads 28th Senior at 5-under

The 2018 Senior Champion Buddy Allen is fresh off his victory at last weeks STLDGA Cassett Senior Championship and is looking to continue that winning way. Allen fired a 5-under par 67 at St. Clair Country Club Monday to sit atop the leaderboard. Allen did the double-dip in 2018 as well winning the two titles within a couple weeks of each other.
Tom Portner (pictured left), from Green Hills Golf Club in Mt. Vernon, played with Allen on Monday. He returned a solid round himself coming in at 2-under 70 to sit 3 shot back. Allen and Portner will be joined in the final group on Tuesday with Brian Hall who also was in red figures with a 1-under par 71.
Defending senior champ Mike O’Neill struggled on Monday to a 10-over par 82. David Bremer and Jim Greenstein round out the top 5 of Round 1, each having Even par rounds of 72 at St. Clair.
